origin of grievance; pt. 1. potential.

Both had received the information. Information that opened their bodies and minds to a new vision. Both had heard, and thought, the word, and for the first time were faced with decision, one that impregnated their simple destiny with possibility and uncertainty, inevitably, choice. It was a test, the first challenge of a pure creation to assert itself as an identity with all the risk of being autonomous. It was also a gift, the greatest and most terrible gift to be given or received.

This new flow into their being made them vulnerable, but it placed them at the beginning of all that was intended. Not a telos, but in fact a disruption of the determined, an opportunity to choose to love freely, or to hate, with the freedom to do so. And soon, depending on their choices, they may themselves acquire the tools to understand their new gift. But of course this was now up to them to decide, and them alone.

Unaware of consequence, only perceiving the single word, the instruction, they turn the no over in their tiny minds again and again in simple curiosity, or push it away in blind fear.

Soon the mirror will ask them what they intend to do.
