With a clenched fist, he rolled his thumb up and down, creating a mouth. He said, "I didn't ask to meet the gentleman, he was introduced to me; and he insisted we talk, simply through force of bombast, to deny me opportunity to interrupt."
The hand went on, "he must have spoken to me, in unpunctuated effortlessly marathon sentences, for the better part of an hour before he paused to brush a spot of lint from his lapel. In this moment, I vanished, leaving both my empty glass and a lighter, gifted to me by my great grandfather; both a saint and a smoker, but never a long winded man."
At last, his fingers relaxed into the more familiar shape of a hand at rest.
